this week

I'm on Easter holiday right now and it's heeeeeeeeaven to be free. No more getting up at 6am, no more speaking norwegian all day, time to potter around and get stuff done, wander around Oslo with friends, eat cakes and sit in cafes and chat, pretend it's spring and put on your converse for the first time in 4 months only to get home with blue toes and feel like a prick for thinking that was a good idea in the first place, eat the most amazing fish and chips at Fiskeriet and escape Norway for the Easter weekend (when everything closes for 4 whole days)and travel to Gøteborg where the whole population is not up in the mountains eating oranges and kvikk lunsj.

  1. It sounds lovely! Yes I remember when it warmed up a little a couple of weeks back (-2 instead of -7), seeing about half the people getting off the train shivering in lighter coats than normal. Wishful thinking! Have a lovely time in Gøtegorg. We're off to Germany tomorrow, can't wait.

  2. We do the same in Chicago...first sign of "Spring" and we like to pretend that it's not still freezing. Live to the fullest though, huh ;)

    Enjoy your holiday!

    1. From now on I'm pretending it's spring!
Tomorrow we will head 100 miles south so I'm wearing my converse,no matter what! I'm convinced the snow will be gone from the streets of Gøteborg! Hurrah!
      Happy Easter Henna :)

    1. The chucks have been put away for a few weeks and replaced with wellies due to the very wet situation caused the the friggin snow melting. It's always something! This is my least favourite time of year, everywhere is so brown, dirty and wet and stinks of dog shit because dog owners let their dogs shit everywhere during winter and dont pick it up, so once the snow melts Oslo is dog shit city!
We are warming up though, about 6c during the day but still about -6c at night. It's beautifully sunny though and we are also light from 5-8!!! woo hooo
Can't wait for June when it won't really get dark :)

  4. I take it all back. It snowed last night, and now everything is mushy. And yes, dog piss/crappy. It stinks terribly here too. Gross.

And seriously. Fuh. Bring on the summer, NOW.
