This morning

We are going to England on Friday for a wedding, catch up with some friends in London and a big cuddle with my lovely god-daughter and her family. We have much to cram into a few days.
So, so excited! Looking forward to some shopping also. I have a date with Selfridges on Monday morning. I need uniqlo, Gap and Marks and Spencer undies to help restock my wardrobe (I don't buy many clothes here in Norway cause I'm not a big fan of overpriced acrylic and polyester!)

p.s Note how we have no snow outside our window. Woo hoo!

  2. What a lovely morning! I see we shop at the same places :-) (I totally agree on the acrylics and the polyester. Terrible.) M&S undies are a staple. I found Uniqlo a disappointment this time around, though. Have you tried COS? Also I find Muji does some nice basic clothes. Have a great time in London!

  3. Hei Janne- Yes, I love COS but I find some of their styles a little too boxy for my "chunky" frame! but I love how simple their clothes are! Oh, and Muji too, love it! Oh, I must visit Paperchase also!

  4. You didn't mention crappy, overpriced shoes. How do you feel about those? Have a great trip- I wouldn't mind a Cadbury egg, but I'll still like you if you forget to pick one up ;)

  5. Siri- Oh, god, shoes! Do not even get me started on shoes! I do not even attempt to buy shoes here! So far my only footwear purchase here is my fabulous (swedish) Tretorn welly boots. All my shoes are from England (and I have a very nice mum who forwards my internet bought goods to me from England so I can avoid high import taxes!)
A creme egg will be winging it's way to you sometime next week!

  6. Hahaha. I'm with you on the shoes, too. Every now and then I manage to find a decent pair at Bianco (that doesn't break the bank), but there really isn't any very good shoe stores here. Now, there's a business idea...

  7. Have your perhaps tried Lille Grensen Shoes? The stores at Majorstuen? They are not crap, but indeed very good quality. Of course expensive, but that's the difference between UK and Norway. The wages in Norway correspond to the prices and so does the UK.

Also, if you know the right stores in general and avoid H&M etc, there are indeed ok clothes in Norway. It's not like Primark, New Look, River Island nor many other UK stores are worth their very CHEAP price tag!

  8. Yes, thankfully winter is well and truly over here in Oslo. Enjoy London! I'll be doing exactly the same over Easter. Warm beer, proper sausages, Yorkshire tea here I come!

  11. Hello anonymous! Yes, I have been to Lille Grensen shoes and I thought they had a great selection but as usual I found it too expensive ( and I can't help comparing the prices to England!) I appreciate Norwegians earn more money that the British BUT the tax here is so high that 46% is taken from us leaving us less than we earned in England so it all evens out! Therefore I prefer to shop in England. As far as clothes go I'm not into shopping at the UK stores you mentioned- they are cheap and nasty and you get what you pay for. I'm talking more about the material used. Im a fan of natural materials (cotton, linen, cashmere, wool) and I find them rare here in Norway where shops seem to always add acrylic/polyester to cotton etc. I just feel I can better quality clothes at a much better price in England. Although I must say you can't beat Norway for kids clothes and winter clothing!

  12. Nordic nibbler- Enjoy your time in Jolly ol' England! I'm also looking forward to a good, proper sausage (pref with a bit of mash and onion gravy!)

Janne- Yes, lets start a shoe business here (after I've done my proper sausage business venture with Nordic nibbler!)

  13. Why only one at the time? How about an in-store sausage-and-mash café? Great shoes at affordable prices, clothes that fit our boxy frames (natural fibers only, of course)and a sausage to top it all off. That would be a shopping experience.
