Sometimes you need a British style breakfast. Henrik hates Marmite and I love to eat a bit and then give him a kiss. Makes him so cross!!!

The weekend

I love having friends over from England, makes me feel totally human again. We had a great weekend with Emma and Suzi, lots of laughs, good food, shopping, Christmas markets, snow with cold, cold weather.(Not to mention all the great gifts they bought, warm socks from GAP,lovely woolen scarves for us both,Marks and Spencer biscuits, lots of English chocolate and crumpets!!) Thank you ladies! Come back soon!

Saturday 27 November 2010

We are back from England and have lovely house guests, Emma and Suzi for the weekend which is nice as Im craving English people after a great week in England! (Ciceley, Emma says hello!!!)

Saturday 20 November 2010

When we get back from England I plan on restocking my online shop with some Norwegian Fleamarket finds once I can decide what I want to part with (the above picnic coffee cups will be in there)
I cannot wait to step foot on English soil and feel the warmth and sense of humour of British people once again. (and have my surname mispronounced as Ker-jell-arod when its actually pronounced Shellarud!!) Have a great weekend folks!

brrrr

It's so cold now that I feel as if my face is being pricked with tiny little pins when I go out! I've had to change to a really thick moisturizer to prevent my skin turning into an old, flaky piece of chalk and my poor car struggles to get up our driveway as its like an ice rink. We will escape these arctic conditions on Sunday as we are off to England for 5 days of English grub, friends and shopping. Can't wait!

Sunset & Sunrise

When the sun shines here it is magical but when the cloud is low and grey it is sooooo depressing. Candles help!

Short,sunny days

The sun rises at 8.16am and sets at 3.46pm. Thats 7 hours and 29 minutes of daylight. Tomorrow will be 4 minutes shorter.
I really like these necklaces from Sunken treasure

Snø

I forgot to mention, it snowed last night, proper, thick, fluffy stuff!!! We checked on our local ski slope and it was looking pretty good and we had a long walk on Kalvøya.

Fleamarket Finds

s
Lots of good stuff at the Loppemarked this week, started stocking up on some Norsk christmas decorations (Henrik started to panic when he saw me pinning them to the walls," You are decorating for christmas already??") Im not,by the way, just pinned them there to photograph!
I got a few glass Norge jars (always lots of these at the fleamarket) a little Figgjo flint pot (I put a little heart plant in from Ikea) a jar saying Krims Krams (just like my blog!) and a little cherry bowl (I also see these at every fleamarket so that might be another thing to collect!) I still had change from 200kr (about £20)
This post is for Angela who is an Oslo transplant too who also loves a good Loppemarked. Check out her blog here.

Sunday 14 November 2010

We had a very laid back Sunday.Breakfast, Fleamarket, lounging and baking. I cant believe I have not worked since July 23rd.The following six weeks were paid holiday but after that no more money! I have never been out of a job for this long and it's really quite strange. As soon as Henrik starts his new job on Dec 1st I will be all alone, as Im applying for jobs in Schools and nothing seems to be available til the new term starts in January.

Today

We walked from our house to Bogstad this afternoon as a reminder to why we moved here.
Im homesick today. I dont miss London as much as I miss certain things we used to do and the people we used to do them with but after our walk (and a fleamarket) I was back to loving my new home!
If you need new wellies then I cant recommend Tretorn enough, they are the dogs bollocks of the welly world!

Someone told me that when you move to a new country you spend the first month feeling like you are on holiday, the next 6 months complaining, another 6 months adjusting and then in your second year you start enjoying. I am well and truly into the complaining part of the programme! Although I do feel that the many bottles of Glögg we bought back from Sweden are helping!
Yesterday we had a long walk on Nesøya and lunch on the beach, it is cold but when the sky is blue and the sun is shining you can deal with the cold (long johns are on, fur lined boots, hat, scarf and gloves and Im learning to walk like a penguin)
