Up in the roof

I love our little bedroom up in the roof of the cottage. It gets so warm in there so it makes the perfect place to warm up after a swim in the fjord. It smells of wood and sap and it's my favourite place to lie and read for hours followed by a little nap....

  5. I'm thinking you should just move to the hytte full time. You're posts have a 50x more positive tone while/after being at there. Look at that come-hither photo of yourself. I just realized you have the exact same coloring as my sister. Freckles, freckles, freckles.

    1. Hi Siri!
Yep, im a giant freckle in the summer and I HATE them! And as fir the "come hither" look, I do believe Henrik had just farted and I was glaring at him!
Yes, you are also quite right about the happier vibe at the cottage- I love it there and just summer in general makes me love this damn country! If it was winter proof I'd move there in an instant!

  6. Looks so cosy : ) How cold is it to swim in the fjords? I just can't get over that it wasn't that long since all the snow and here in England it's still cold and grey and I wonder if it's really warm with you or if you just gain toughness from the coldness of winter! I'd love to know.

    1. It's about 16c in the fjord at the moment-so not warm! You just have to throw yourself in and within a few minutes the pain goes away! I love to swim so I'm in the fjord as soon as it's possible although during July and August it can get up to 21-23c which is much nicer!
I do think the harsh winters have toughened me up a bit though (although I do have plenty of natural padding so I don't feel the cold too much!) but the summers here can be lovely and warm which is a bit weird after the winter!

  7. So, so, so SO envious of this little haven. I love wood smell. I think I frightened the workers in Heal's this afternoon as I went around inhaling loudly all these natural wooden placemats and serving trays they have in stock. Bwaaaaaaaaa yum.
