Sunday

Here in Norway most shops are closed on Sundays (only very small shops are allowed to open) so for a shopaholic like myself, and from a place like London where everything functions on Sunday I found it really difficult to accept at first but slowly Im beginning to enjoy our slow paced Sundays.

  1. You had a beautiful Autumn Sunday! ...and Yum! What does the sign say in English? Ice cream!?
Thanks for your blog; I enjoy stopping by now and then.

  2. And so the shops should be closed on Sundays, so that you can take more beautiful photos and enjoy delicious ice-cream in leisure with your family!

    Fab, fab, fab. xxx

  3. Hi Phyl- The sign is for Freia which is a huge food company here in Norway, that is a huge sign that sits on top of a building in Oslo. Ice cream in Norwegian is IsKrem. Very similar to English!

  5. Oh, I'm completely with you on that one! It's not that I necessarily need to buy anything, but I like that it would at least be a possibility to go shopping if I wanted to. And to people-watch. Actually, I think the odd feeling of displacement I tend to get on the "old regular Scandinavian Sunday" really depends on the fact that closed shops keep people indoors or outside the cityscape, all of which just makes you feel that you reside in the most desolate of places. Honestly, I don't think I'll ever learn to love it;O)
