I will be sad to say goodbye to 2008 as its been my best year ever.In August I married the wonderful Henrik and enjoyed a totallyunforgettable day.Lets hope 2009 is just as happy.Happy new year.
Even when Im Christmas shopping I always buy myself a little gift whilst Im doing it. This time I bought myself a lovely marimekko bird tray and mug, the tray was too expensive but I could not resist! Also this week we received two belated wedding presents, a beautiful restored Ercol chair and a lovely bowl made from an old tree stump. (Thank you Julie&James and Julia&Anthony)
I know I said we were not getting a tree but in Ikea the other dayI found a sweet little one in a pot and I could not resist (Ive keptit in its soil and Im hoping to plant it in the garden in January)It makes the living room smell all christmassy. Lovely.
Ive been going through our wedding photographs this evening making an album of all the pictures that I like but that did not make it into our official album. It rained on our special day, from the moment we woke up right up until we went to bed!
Seeing as though we will be in Norway for Christmas we have decided not to get a real christmas tree this year, although I could not resist this cute little wooden one from Muji. Its so cold here that we have spent most of the weekend huddled up reading and watching too much rubbish tv.
Winter has arrived in London, with our coats, hats and scarves on we headed out to Regents park for a brisk walk and a hot chocolate at the Garden Cafe in the Inner circle. We finished up at home having tea and homemade ginger biscuits (made with my new Alvar Alto cookie cutter!)
Whenever we got to Sweden or Norway my first port of call is always Åhlens. I cant resist all their cute kitchen stuff and their fantastic selection of fabrics. I LOVE the mushroom fabric, I also bought myself an apron,a tea towel and a cute little tray in the same pattern.
You cant beat a little wander around the flower market on a Sunday morning. We dragged ourselves out of bed nice and early this morning and wandered around taking in the sights and smells (bacon rolls with HP sauce, yum) returning home with armfuls of lovely flowers.
I have always had a bit of a love affair with Sweden and Scandinavia in general and was thrilled when I found plane tickets to Stockholm for only £2.99, so on Friday we headed over for a weekend of hot dogs, cinnamon buns and shopping for lots of Scandi goodies. I could really see myself living in Stockholm.
As soon as I opened the blinds this morning I knew the type of day I wanted to have. The rain was pouring and there was a winter chill in the air. All thoughts turned to getting snuggled in with lots of tea,a blanket and my new stack of books. The wonderful Jeu de Paume Stockholm collection and the very lovely A year of mornings
Henrik's cold went on for the whole week and I felt on the verge of catching it but luckily Im cold free so far. We went for a wander around Marylebone this morning as the hubby had cabin fever, did'nt allow myself to spend so much money (just a little owl from Cath Kidston and a Marimekko tin from Skandium) as we are heading to Stockholm next weekend for a Scandi shopping bonanza! woo!
Its a beautiful sunny weekend in London and my husband is ill. He has man flu (a common garden variety cold) He has snorted, groaned, coughed and spluttered ALL day long. In hindsight I should have gone out and enjoyed the glorious sunshine but decided to stay home and look after him (seeing as though we are newly wed!) I fed him good food in bed all day. Breakfast-3 pancakes with Norwegian goat cheese and jam. Lunch- Cabbage, potato and panchetta soup Dinner-Cous cous with roasted veg and moroccan sausages and as I type he is cocooned in a blanket eating Swedish fish. I think Im seeing an improvement in his cold so I wont be playing nurse and waitress tomorrow!
